If you know this site, you’ll know something is different. It actually loads and works now? No that’s not it but I’m hoping those problems will be ironed out with the new lick of paint CreativeJUUS has just had.
When I started this site in 2009 as a means to ‘get back to being creative’ I really didn’t know what I was going to do. I was a bit lost (stuck in a non-design job) and I wanted to create an outlet to share anything and everything that I could creatively muster. I started finding interesting artwork, design work or anything I could share on the site but I really knew that I didn’t want it to be another inspiration gallery. So I got my act together and started my Creative Mondays project. Thankfully since then I haven’t really looked back. Ideas started to flow, freelance work picked up (alongside the 9-5) and design was in my blood again.
In order to fix the future you have to go back to your past.
I was creating designs for fun and sticking to a routine on my blog that enabled me to discuss my methods and share with others. Soon it seemed my site wasn’t really keeping up with what I was doing. I tried to ‘tack on’ new sections so as to show off my newly created portfolio but the original template wasn’t designed for it. The blog wasn’t as responsive as I liked and the homepage generally felt cluttered. I went back and looked at what worked in the past to help propel myself further into the future. Hell if Doc Brown and Marty McFly could do it, I’m sure as hell gonna give it a shot (minus that almanac of course). It was time for a change. Get back to the basics and keep it simple stupid.
Now I hope I’ve got something that can do the job a bit better. A dedicated portfolio section for one and a much better way to show off my digital design presence. With digital in mind, I realise that my site is viewed on more and more mobile devices so the new theme is fully responsive. Writing is not something that comes naturally to me so the focus is primarily on the design and the imagery as it’s the best way to sell myself as a brand.
So welcome to the new and improved CreativeJUUS, she’s a prettier machine than before and hopefully you’ll stop by and giver her a glance.
Oh and if you notice anything wrong with the site let me know, there’s still a few kinks to work out while I update the archive and portfolio!
